Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal

Seriously, my favoritest music video by Michael Jackson OF ALL TIME. When I was a kid and this video was out on VHS, I would come home from school just to dress up like they did in the video and watch only to memorize the entire choreography. Each time would only seem as if it were the first time I've watched the production of Smooth Criminal because MJ's music videos were just that breathtaking. Growing up as a dancer, I was always mesmerized by MJ's ease into every step, and also by his suave nature when he was performing. With this particular video, I loved the old fashioned style, the sexual content, and the concept of MJ being a real smooth criminal.

Before we all even knew about TV tricks and stunts, I remember people at school trying to do the lean in the video. Haha, it was good times. MJ was always the dancer everyone would constantly strive to imitate, and he still is. Amazing.

I'm feeling a bit overwelmed

  • got a call from Candace last night telling me that Devin (her nephew & Arieson's friend) has contracted the swine flu
  • woke up this morning to sign onto Facebook to find out that the ravishing Farrah Fawcett has passed away
  • now CNN is reporting that Michael Jackson has been hospitalized due to cardiac arrest and TMZ has reported that the King of Pop has indeed passed away
I haven't felt on edge like this since KMEL announced the news about 2Pac. Excuse me while I glue my eyes to the television.

Inspiration: home sweet home series

I wish this house was mine.

This stove is the cutest.

I wish my house was a castle.

I really need this home cubicle in my life right now.

I wish I had a nice, relaxed lifestyle.

I want a backyard for this purpose: bliss.

This is how I feel today

I had the darkest dream last night

I was riding a motorcycle at night, and somehow heard my cell phone ringing. I pulled over to check my voicemail, and received some news from an official that [unnamed person] was dead. I hung up the phone and called my mom. She didn't pick up, but I eventually saw her and she reassured me that Arieson was doing fine. I felt relieved.

Then, I wake up. Arieson is calling my name "mama, mama, mama..." I smiled thinking about my dream.

But, I wish the news I heard on my voicemail in my dream were true.

My weird taste

Old school crush

New school crush

The other day I was listening to some David Bowie, and my mom tells me (once and for all) that she thinks my infatuation with David Bowie stems from when she borrowed the movie, Labyrinth, from one of her gay coworkers back in the 90s.

See a pattern? It just makes a lot more sense to me now!

Come on, Kelly Kapowski!

Tiffani Amber Thiessen better known as "Kelly Kapowski" on the iconic 1990s kids hit show, Save By The Bell is holding off on a reunion Jimmy Fallon recently launched on his show. So far Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris), Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding) and Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater) have been convinced.

Tiffani Amber Thiessen thinks (according to US Weekly) that, "In her mind, a reunion would remind audiences she hasn't done anything for years. We're trying to get her to do it because it would actually be great for her career."

Bitch please! If anything it will help her "career"!

Christina Aguilera - What A Girl Wants

The Most Brilliant Flowchart Ever To Find Out If You Should Break Up With Your Girlfriend

Or really it’s just the end of the road. There’s nothing wrong with that. Not a damn thing. You just have to learn to get out when you figure that out. Most guys don’t figure it out until it’s six months too late and they’re staring down the wrong end of a ring receipt from the jewelry kiosk in the mall. It’s a wicked world we live in.

I highly recommend anyone who is reading this and is sketchy about their current relationship to try this out. NOW.

Mondays are great for goal setting

I spent my entire last week dwelling and pondering upon my current situation being unemployed. In the beginning I was a little upset, but I quickly ended up finding a project to keep my mind off getting "dumped" by Saks. Last week my need for "closure" caught up with me, and left me unproductive and my mind jumbled into thoughts I could barely comprehend.

My decision to go on with this wedding planning business is solid, no doubt. But since I am starting up, I have been thinking of other side jobs to do; jobs that don't require much of a commitment to at least pay some bills while I have no stable income. Then there's taking care of Arieson. Having the opportunity to stay home (while being a single mother) and spend time with Arieson is about as much as I can ask for, especially given his unique situation. However, if I am planning on moving out of my parents' home soon, I need to have a consistent cash flow to generate a healthy lifestyle for the both of us. This is probably the one thing I struggle with the most. I am grateful for the help I get from my parents, but at the same time, I think I should be on my own, regardless if I have a kid or not. I won't get into it now, but it's something that will always be in the back of my mind until I finally get there. Lastly, there's my social life; my life outside home. Although I don't have much of one, I still think it's important for me to get out and into activities that will help keep me sane for Arieson's sake. Whether it be hanging out with friends at the park, taking a class, or working out, I realized that I need something that constitutes as "me time".

There are a bunch of things I wish to do, but feel somewhat handicapped, and I think it's because I am not organized. I'm distracted with clutter in my brain and in my house. I want to spend as much time with Arieson while getting shit done. I want to be able to let loose once in awhile while Arieson is taken care of. So I came to the consensus that I should let all this free time sans a job, work in my favor. I'm going to start and devise a daily schedule that allows me to do all I can, when I can, if I can. My sleeping pattern got really fucked up last week, so this week I am going to practice better judgment and organization. I am going to get rid of the things that clutter my brain so I can be more productive. I'm setting those goals for this week, and focusing on the three parts that sum up my life at the moment. Also, I need to take things one step at a time and not get in on over myself!

Tomorrow's a new day. Go me.

Vancouver named world's most livable city

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) announced Monday that Vancouver is the best city in the world to live, followed by Vienna, Austria and Melbourne, Australia.

The EIU -- the business arm of the U.K.-based weekly economics magazine -- ranked the living conditions of 140 cities around the world based on five broad categories; stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

OWNS!

Don't know who the designer is, but I'd like to find out. So beautiful.

My Moleskine

I've been pondering this for awhile, and it's funny how I came across this photo, but I think I really should start investing more time into my Moleskines. Even though I have this blog, I think it's still totally relevant to hand write things for tangible records and memories. I also love how notebooks can help you organize your life!

Check out this article on how to make a Moleskine PDA.

Map: Northern California Unemployment

View Northern CA Unemployment in a larger map

SFGate's 'Scavenger' came up with the above handy Google map, denoting the 20 northern California cities with the highest unemployment rates. While it's not a joyous thing to behold, it is interesting to see where we're at right now in the state. The top spots went to #5: Madera (18.5% unemployment), #4: Salinas (18.7%), #3: Yuba City (19.2%), #2: Ceres (19.2%), and #1: Watsonville (24%).

Some Bay Area cities that made the list include Oakland (13.9%), East Palo Alto (16.8%), and San Pablo (17.6%), coming in at #18, #10 and #8, respectively.

Not so fun now, is it?

The Sacramento Bee has more info on all 20 cities.

I apologize for the lack of posts

I have a lot of issues with my 2 year old MacBook. This time my charger decided to give up on me and stop charging my laptop! So, after countless attempts to fix it myself, I had to resort to my engineer of a step dad fix it.

Apparently some wires came loose and my laptop just wasn't picking it up. I think the tip got kind of burnt too. This sure saved me a trip to the Genius Bar. Thanks George!

Oh, how lost I am without my laptop. I missed you so.

P.S.
Don't you love my gold glitter nail polish? Classic!

Srsly? There are no excuses for this shit. And for this to happen at least once a year makes this worse.

Tumblr crushes

I'm Akin's #2 crush on Tumblr!

Never knew.

My weekend was gnarley

Friday was "pre-game" before Sherrie's bachelorette party. We (me, Sherrie, Maggie, Andrea (maid of honor) and her two friends) went out for sushi at Kitaro then had a girls' night at Maggie's boyfriend's penthouse in Japantown while he was out of town. Good times. Haven't had a girls' night in a while; indoors topped with alcohol, electronica, junk food and nail polish. As Charlotte says, "staying in is the new going out."

Saturday was Sherrie's bachelorette party. SUCCESS! Her skanky themed banana party at the Phoenix Hotel was that and much more. Raunchy and sexy debauchery. Sherrie looked fab as usual. No drama. The night was reminiscent of Lady Gaga's Just Dance music video. I haven't partied that hard in awhile.

Sunday I woke up with my face over my toilet bowl. Proof of a good night! My parents were nice enough to take Arieson that morning so I could sleep in more. Mike and I bummed it the entire day until we went out to see a late showing of Up. All the reviews are true. Pixar never fails to impress me. We topped the night off by meeting up with Mike's friend, Nate and the rest of the Delfina crew at an empty Thieves Tavern. Hanging at small empty dive bars are killer. It was a good way to end my weekend.

I still hate alcohol.
